hab mir heute beim frühstück den blue tomato katalog mal etwas genauer angeschaut und dabei die triple-base technologie entdeckt
stellt sich ca so dar:
BATALEON snowboards implements Triple Base Technology in all its snowboards. The boards' 3-dimensional base provides radically enhanced performance in terms of dynamics, speed and control. Research and years of testing have proven that the Triple Base concept delivers superior performance compared to the conventional flat-base snowboard:
1. Faster glide and greater stability
2. Reduced tendency to catch edge
3. Smoother edge-to-edge transitions
4. Enhanced edgegrip and release
5. Forgiveness for tricks and landings
The triple base concept was developed to achieve a snowboard with an optimal edgegrip. The 3D base shape offers enhanced performance while maintaining sufficient control in every situation; Flat snowboards on the other hand, have a strong sidecut resulting in an edgegrip which is too aggressive at the widest parts of the board.
Triple Base Technology provides a great improvement, particularly in these three situations:
1. Going through a tight turn, a conventional board tends to dig too deep at the nose and the tail resulting in energy lost to plowing and vibrations causing loss of edge control. The lesser angle of Triple Base Technology at the front and rear base provides a better float and less plowing which reduces vibrations in the board. Less vibrations means better edgegrip. The enhanced float provides softer snow treatments and thus higher speed.
2. In flat position: Because the front and rear steel-edges are lifted, the board will have a greatly reduced tendency to catch an edge and cut away unintentionally in flat position, allowing for a more relaxed and controlled ride. In straight line motion the centrifugal forces are zero, and the need for edgegrip is minimal. Edgegrip from the steel edges at the flat mid-section alone is required to ensure the necessary steering control.
3. At landing after jumping, a snowboard which lands almost flat, risks catching an edge. With Triple Base only the parallel edges between the feet are active against the snow and the risk of loosing control is greatly reduced.

??? ich könnt mir vorstellen, dass man im tiefschnee damit gut unterwegs ist (vielleicht ähnlich wie mit den spatulas?). aber dass man einen besseren kantengriff/kraftübertragung hat oder gar schneller ist kann ich nicht ganz nachvollziehen.
